Juliana Kok

Juliana’s interest is in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, particularly on the dysfunction of the thoraco-lumbo‐pelvic region. With over 10 years of experience, she has worked with elite athletes and provided physiotherapy coverage at international games such as the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, treated pregnant women with lumbo‐pelvic pain, and children with scoliosis on conservative management. She believes strongly in integrating exercises with manual therapy for optimal function.

Juliana is also a keen trekker, having trekked in Nepal, Spain and South Africa. She is also a self‐proclaimed foodie, always on the lookout for good food, great wine and excellent coffee.

Mike has a passion for integrative medicine with a background in Western Medical Science as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was the first holder of a BHSc Acupuncture degree in New Zealand and is involved in research collaboration with a number of organisations on topics relating to Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine, including the first ever research study considering the use of Acupuncture in New Zealand hospitals. He also teaches and heads the Research component of the Acupuncture Degree course.

Mike also has a passion for espresso coffee, Italian classic motorcycles and hi-tech gadgets and is a 7th dan black belt master at providing solutions for anything IT related!

Binnari’s special interest is Active Core and Spinal Muscle strengthening exercises. She is the only qualified New Zealand instructor of the outstanding BOUNCE Back Active Rehab Programs.

BOUNCE Back is a structured and outcome based objective program to retrain the brain and body using a systematic series of exercise classes which maximise results and minimise the risk of re-injury and further pain. This approach promotes confident client progression and physical control. Patients experience significant lifestyle improvements and are usually able to return to normal activities such as work and sport, those things that many of us take for granted.

Binnari is a true believer in CORE muscles: “the 'retrain your brain to retrain your body' business really works”. Come in and see Binnari if you are after a whole new injury-free body!

Sheldon Redman

John has foundations in many aspects of Oriental medicine from massage to acupuncture, herbs and nutrition. He lived and worked in a very active part of Hawaii for over a decade, helping put back together surfers, swimmers, canoe paddlers, and runners on a daily basis. He's personally seen the values of this medicine, having recovered from herniated disks, various sprains, fractures of the leg, foot and neck using traditional non-surgical therapies.

John also specialises in internal issues of infertility, gynaecology, and has co-written two books about using Chinese Medicine: one treating headaches and a second on chronic sinusitis - showing how carefully prescribed herbal medicine is key to unraveling many of these ailments.

It's taken him a long time to settle in New Zealand after his first visit in 1995 - the coffee, wine, and the amazing crew at The Body Workshop having won him over!

Julian practices ‘Integrated Physiotherapy’ using wholistic techniques to alleviate pain and restrictions in the body while improving performance on mental, emotional and physical levels.

Julian’s Treatment is based on a combination of the following principles and techniques:

  1. Traditional Physiotherapy

  2. Orthopeadic Manipulative Therapy

  3. Craniosacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation

  4. Movement Rehabilitation and Exercise Therapy

  5. Kinesiology and Muscle activation

  6. Tai Chi and Qigong

  7. Strapping and Kinesiotaping

  8. Relaxation , Meditation and Self - Hypnosis

In 2009 Julian, his wife Tania and son Jaden moved from Johannesburg to Auckland where he joined The Body Workshop team.

Julian has a strong interest in Tai Chi and Kung Fu and runs the New Zealand branch of Yang’s Martial Arts Association.

Julian graduated with Honours in Physiotherapy in 2001 and also holds a Personal Trainer’s diploma.

He is currently studying Mind Body Healthcare at AUT.

Sheldon is ’The Foot Physio’, specialising in Foot and Lower Limb Therapy and comprehensive Rehabilitation Programmes.

Sheldon also creates custom made orthotics and shoe adjustments to solve almost any Foot and Lower Limb problem. He uses the latest technology, which is the only weight-bearing corrected orthotic system in New Zealand.

Sheldon is well known for his successful cutting-edge treatment techniques born from an intense passion for finding solutions and a constant drive to go as far as it takes to help his patients return to their best possible function.

Sheldon has drawn on 16 years of experience in all realms of Physiotherapy, to create successful Treatment and Rehabilitation Programs for all injuries and pain conditions.

Brendon was the first person in New Zealand to hold both a Western Natural Medicine double diploma and an Eastern Oriental Medicine degree. He currently teaches Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in Auckland.

Brendon integrates the best of both worlds, East & West, choosing whatever is the best approach in different clinical situations. He believes understanding and unifying the different approaches and different points of view of these two medical systems makes much more sense than using just one or the other.

Brendon’s underlying treatment principle is ‘finding balance’ and he aims to help people understand the reasons why they have arrived at their current health issue

Brendon makes up one half of The Body Workshop Italian Motorcycle Club & Italian Coffee Machine appreciation society and has a love for music: from deep house to japanese taiko drumming.

Susanne is an experienced Midwife and Traditionally Trained Acupuncturist. Her professional passion is the natural management of reproductive issues, sub-fertility and birth.

With her depth of experience both in New Zealand and in her native Germany, and her understanding of both Natural and Conventional medical approaches, Susanne is able to offer well balanced advice and treatment on a number of reproductive and fertility issues.

Call in and see Susanne or send us an email with any fertility or reproductive related issues to get the best of both of Eastern & Western medical opinion.

At The Body Workshop, we generate a unique, friendly and positive atmosphere that is often commented on by patients new and old. We aim to inspire, motivate and encourage all of our patients on their individual pathways to getting where they want to go and achieving their goals - from injury recovery to having a first child, and everything in between! Come on in and experience the TBW difference...  You’re body and mind will both thank you for it!
